BLIND ITEM! What Brooklyn resident's raw garlic addiction has gotten so out of control that he recently burned through an entire bulb in two days? (Yes, that's BULB, not CLOVE.)

Also saw The Golden Compass. I don't know what everybody's bitching about. I loved the His Dark Materials trilogy and thought this movie was enthralling, with Kidman perfectly cast and great effects. Simon McBurney, who you may remember as the British ambassador in The Last King of Scotland, is also brilliant as the sinister Fra Pavel. I wonder how much Kidman was thinking about Scientology during this production. (If you're the last person on earth who hasn't seen the Tom Cruise Scientology video, here you go.)
True, the movie fizzled out on a soggy, Enya-esque note - sort of the fantasy film equivalent of In the Valley of Elah's wretched ending, but everything up until that worked like a charm. That intercision scene was dynamite.
I know, I know, I still NEED to see There Will Be Blood. Just letting it breathe a bit.
Also, I've been seeing a lot of theater, mostly Under the Radar. Disinformation was my favorite; read all about it. Seeing Happy Days tonight! For further reading, I did Q&As with Mark Russell and Fiona Shaw.
