“Cheney is devoted to this, no question.” - from a deep-background piece by Si Hersh in this week's New Yorker about the ramp-up to Operation End of Irany (TM)
As well-researched as it is alarming. After all these years, Si has sources everywhere and they're telling him fun stuff like this:
“In interviews with current and former officials, there were repeated complaints about the paucity of reliable information. A former high-level C.I.A. official said that the intelligence about who is doing what inside Iran 'is so thin that nobody even wants his name on it. This is the problem.'”
The leadership in England and France has swung hard right and they're craving a head-on clash. War works well for politicians; that's common knowledge. But from my think tank here in Brooklyn, I'm predicting that any kind of assault on Iran will A) Fail to eliminate the nuclear programs. B) Fail to stop Iran's arm smuggling into Iraq, which has been sexed up anyway. C) Provide great B-roll of collateral damage for Al Jazeera. D) Drive us even more irrevocably into the conflagration.
Which is of course where Cheney wants to leave things: well past any point of no return for the next administration. “Cheney is devoted to this, no question.”
That's okay - I'll laugh until my head comes off.
If the US invades Iran, I shall personally start a worldwide campaign to boycott American products. Since the business lobby appears to be the only entity capable of influencing the American government these days, only hitting them in the pocket will have any impact.

For the past few years I keep returning to the following thought. It follows me like a mantra:
You Goddam Ignorant Selfish MuthaFuckers! How dare you presume to own the world? Fuck Off!
BTW - you can quote me on that one, no problem.
